I own an older 39 foot cruiser/racer and am comfortable sailing her shorthanded in most conditions. Docking single handed is a concern. Also, major rigging and or sail problems in less than ideal conditions on a boat that size cannot be taken lightly.

I am intrigued by a boat in the 30 foot size range that would be easier to handle, though perhaps not as comfortable to sail. The possibility of it being trailerable is also interesting.

Any thoughts?

I just downsized from a C&C 38 back to a Beneteau First 30E. My previous boat was a C&C SR33, and I found I was missing the responsiveness and tiller steering. Everything on the 30 is easily managed and the overall useful space interior space is quite similar.
